Passline Craps
The Pass Line Bet is the basic bet in craps. Most players make this wager, which occurs before the come-out roll. If you make the Pass Line Bet, you are betting on the dice shooter to win.
To win this wager, you’ll need the shooter to roll a 7 or 11 on the come-out roll. If the shooter instead rolls a 2, 3, or 12, then you lose. That leaves the 4,5,6,8,9, and 10 as possible results. If one of these numbers is rolled, then other rolls are needed and the terms of the bet change.
How Do You Establish a Point in Craps?
Pass / Come Free Odds Bet This is the most powerful bet in all of craps. In order to play the free odds bet, you must have wagered on the pass line bet or the come bet. If the shooter has not rolled a craps number (2, 3, or 12) or a 7 or 11, then there must be a point number established (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10).
- Some Craps players refer to don’t passline bets as “betting wrong,” and consequently, a passline bet is called “betting right.” When you make a passline bet, you are betting to roll a 7 or 11 on the first roll, which would result in a win on that bet. But when you make a don’t passline bet, you are betting to roll a 2, 3, or 12.
- For a Pass Line bet, the come‑out roll can produce three possible outcomes: 1) if a 7 or 11 appears, the Pass Line bet wins and the game ends, 2) if a craps appears (i.e., a 2, 3, or 12), the Pass Line bet loses and the game ends, and 3) if a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 appears, a point is established and the game continues until either the point number appears again, in which case the Pass Line bet wins, or a 7 appears, in which case the Pass Line.
- The pertinent possible outcomes are: For the come-out roll, the shooter rolls a 7 (a Pass Line winner). Because you told the dealer to keep your Come Odds on and working for the come-out, you lose both the $5 Flat portion and the $10 Odds portion. For the come-out roll, the shooter rolls a 10 (establishes 10 as the new point).
- Pass Line – The Pass Line bet is a wager that the Shooter will win by rolling a 7 or an 11. If they do all bets on the Pass Line are paid at 1 to 1. If the Shooter rolls a 2, 3 or 12 – called “Crapping Out” – all bets on the Pass Line lose.
If you rolled a 4,5,6,8,9, or 10, then this number is called the “point”. To win the bet, you’ll need to roll that number a second time before rolling a 7. The odds of rolling a 7 are greater, because there are more winning combinations for that number.
